Government Agencies

Cybercriminals are highly capable IT experts with the ability to penetrate private networks and information to engage in cybercrime. They may be divided into three main categories:

  • Incidental cybercriminal, who commit criminal acts deliberately to harm third parties;
  • Accidental cybercriminal, who find themselves involved in criminal activity by accident, sometimes even without their knowledge;
  • Situational cybercriminal, who find themselves forced to commit a criminal act as a consequence of a particular set of circumstances.

Anyone who accesses the Internet is a potential target for cybercrime, and these crimes, in Italy, are dealt with by law enforcement agencies including the Guardia di Finanza (Finance Police) and the Polizia Postale (Postal Police).

At Yarix we work closely with law enforcement agencies and have a forensic data lab built according to guidelines set out by the US-based National Institute of Standards and Technology.

There are only three such facilities in Italy capable of recovering evidence and other incriminating data from damaged or destroyed hard drives and other forms of digital memory.
