Yarix, a cybersecurity competence brand of Var Group, has identified several portals accessible from the clear web that distribute thousands of stolen audio-video recordings from over 2,000 surveillance cameras in private homes and sensitive locations such as beauty salons or medical offices.

One of these sites, active since at least December 2024 and registered in Tonga, not only allows users to freely view short excerpts of the recordings, but also to purchase direct access to the compromised cameras, some of which have received over 20,000 views.

The impact of this discovery has been enormous: the news has been reported by dozens of online outlets, national and local TV broadcasters, and numerous industry websites, helping raise public awareness about the security of IoT devices and the protection of personal data.
